Ella Semo is an Israeli choreographer and dance artist whose work explores the meeting point between movement, presence, and consciousness.
Her creations merge contemporary physicality with deep embodied research, inviting audiences into poetic spaces where the body becomes a language of truth.
Ella trained at leading dance institutions in Israel, including the Bat-Dor School of Dance in Be’er Sheva and the Alon High School for dance in Ramat hasharon and expanded her development through international programs such as Dance New Amsterdam in New York.
Her movement background spans contemporary dance techniques, ballet, Pilates, and advanced training in Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis.
She performed with independent ensembles before joining the Inbal Dance Theater, where she deepened her artistic range through repertory work and collaborative processes. A long-standing partnership with choreographer Joseph Tmim, serving as his assistant across Israel and Europe, further shaped her choreographic sensitivity and artistic voice.
Additional international collaborations - including projects with Jungle Dance Theater in India - broadened her research into embodied expression.
In 2018, Ella experienced a defining artistic shift: a moment in which years of physical knowledge, emotional inquiry, and intuitive listening fused into a coherent inner language.
From this awakening emerged SATORI - her award-winning 12-minute dance film, unfolding through seven inner “gates” of consciousness.
Since its release, SATORI has been screened in festivals across Europe, Asia, and South America, including the Athens Video Dance Project, Fifth Wall Fest, Video Art Festival Turku, and Paus Premieres.
Today, Ella’s practice centers on creating choreographic worlds that weave physical precision with emotional depth and somatic awareness. She is currently developing A New World, a multi-chapter stage work exploring transformation and the awakening of the collective heart.set to premiere in 2026.
Alongside her stage work, Ella shares the SATORI movement language - a method born organically from the creation of the film - through workshops and, soon, online classes. The method supports movers in accessing presence and inner coherence through guided improvisation, intuitive movement, and embodied listening.
